What to see at the show?

Kids Entertainment Zone

Let the kids immerse themselves in Virtual Reality, relax and read stories in the luxe glamping tent, do some craft or why not build sand castles in the giant sand pit.  Face painting will also be available to add some colour and sparkle to your child’s day.

AG Learning Centre

Elders and Grant High School present the AG Learning Centre, the centre will provide the public with presentations and access to Agricultural Animals in an area, which is exciting, inviting, safe and informative.

 

The target audience of 0-12 years are invited to experience an educational environment through looking, listening and especially touch.

 

The Centre will contain a variety of Agricultural Animals but especially focusing on baby animals.

 

All pens and individual larger animals will be manned by Agricultural Science students from Grant High School allowing the general public but especially young people safe and supervised interaction with the animals.

 

The Centre will also incorporate informative presentations on animal husbandry practices carried out on South East farms.

Presentations may include:

Milking dairy Cows
An interesting and informative presentation showing how milk is obtained from cows.  
Watch a cow being milked and the cream is separated.


Also find out about Dairy Cows and how they produce milk.

Feeding baby animals
Look and learn about baby farm animals.
Watch how they feed and see what they eat. 
After the presentation spend some time with the baby animals. 


Find out how to hold small farm animals and what they feel like. 

Shearing
Learn about sheep breeds and their uses.
Watch a sheep being shorn and the fleece being prepared for sale.


Feel the fleece in its natural state and take home a sample of wool.
   
Primary School classes & Kindergartens from Mount Gambier and surrounding districts are invited to book into the Centre on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday prior to the Show opening. Students will be able to be informed by the presentations and also have direct contact with the baby animals under direct supervision. Schools and Kindergartens wishing to participate can do so by contacting the show office.
